It’s always been tough in internal comms

and it keeps getting tougher…and that’s why makes it interesting.

Our world is changing and our profession needs to adapt, and that includes our approach to conferences. Unlike the tired conference format that turns us all off, there’s bound to be something at CIPR’s 8th Annual Conference on Employee Communications in London on 7th October that will float your boat.

• If plaudits are your thing, then come and listen to the divas who were shortlisted in the 2010 CIPR Excellence Awards; they will be on hand to share their campaign entries and fill you in on what they did and how. A great opportunity to hear best practice and “borrow with pride” the best bits that would help your organisation, or – if you are considering entering the 2011 awards – find out what it takes to make the shortlist.

• If you like a good debate then come join me and David Clarke, Former Head of Talent Measurement, Hewitt Associates, debate the value of measurement. Well known measurement expert Susan Walker has been drafted in to try and keep the house in order. According to Susan, our profession sits in one of two groups; Measurement Maestros and Measurement La-Las. No prizes for guessing which group I sit in!

Social Media is everyone’s thing, isn’t it? and CIPR Advisory Board member Euan Semple can claim guru status with his latest thinking and experience of working with the world’s greatest brands. He’s happy to share it.

• If you’re looking for your next career move then recruitment experts David Broome and Rebecca Tarry from VMA Group will give you some valuable insights from their latest industry survey. It’s clear the profession is changing – hear where changes are taking place and what you can do to aid your career development in challenging times.

There’s far more with case studies and presentations from David Macleod, COI, Centrica, Heineken, Aviva, and CIPD check www.cipr.co.uk/internalcomms to have a look at the full agenda and book your seat.

It would be great to see you there, if you haven’t booked tickets are selling fast so get on line this week to guarantee your place.
