The growth of internal communication and increasing importance being placed by organisations on the effectiveness and importance of great employee engagement, led to CIPR’s sectoral group developing the #insidestory awards last year.

James Harkness, CIPR Inside’s chair explained: “The #insidestory awards have grown this year based upon feedback from participants last year. They told us they needed more opportunities to show the strength of their work across the board. Many organisations are now truly grasping the importance and relevance of internal communication. As a discipline, it has moved right up the agenda, with dedicated teams becoming more prevalent, and more senior. It’s no longer the poor relation to external communications.

“Senior managers are also realising it’s not just about the tools, but more about how you use them that can bring about the changes needed to succeed. It is about better informed, more motivated and engaged employees – they have the power to communicate your brand and make your organisation thrive.

“The awards celebrate talent, share best practice, measure success and help us all to learn from the best. It’s a reflection of the growth in our group too, as we have grown in numbers by just under 15% this last year. #insidestory awards are recognition of the power of effective internal communication.”
