Our Annual General Meeting 12 March

As we approach the start of February I’m sitting in my lounge surrounded by flip chart paper, spreadsheets and my laptop is perched on the coffee table. It’s time to review the year and plan our AGM!

At our annual conference in November I announced that we would be putting our awards on hold for 2017/18 and instead take time to speak to members and find out whether what we are doing is right for them and what we are missing. I have been involved with the Inside committee for five years now and each year we have focussed on awards and a conference and I think each one of those events have been brilliant. I love the chance to celebrate the success of our industry and hear case studies from peers about the work they are doing but I also felt it was time to step back.

At the beginning of the month some of the committee and some industry colleagues gathered in a room to discuss the purpose of Inside, what we should do in 2018/19 and how we could change our offer to match what our members say.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to complete our survey and thank you to everyone that took the time to come to the session – it has really changed the thinking for our agenda in the coming year.

At the AGM on Monday 12 March we will share these plans with you at an event in London. They will be broad as the committee will work on the detail once the elections are complete but I want to make sure we share the big stuff as quickly as we can. I’m also delighted that for the first time we will be able to live stream our AGM thanks to the team at Kinura who are helping us out following their successful streaming work at the Simply Communicate SMILE event in November 2017.

Tickets are available here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cipr-inside-agm-tickets-42077517989 and are free. We will be joined by Sasha Watson, Senior Organisational Director from ARM, who will be talking about culture in the organisation and how her role has evolved to explore the complete employee journey. Emma Leech, president elect will be with us and we also plan to hear the latest IC survey highlights from Gatehouse and VMA Group, as well as from some new members that joined the CIPR this year.

It’s a different AGM to previous years, returning to a model of short case studies and networking for communicators and I hope our move to live streaming means we can reach our members outside London as well.

I hope to see you there in person, or in your living room/office watching the presentations and elections take place. We are incredibly passionate about what 2018 will bring for our profession and I’d be keen to hear from anyone before the AGM if there are any questions you would like us to cover in our presentations as well – please drop me a note at hello@ciprinside.co.uk
